Would You Say Something?

You see the images on TV every day. Border Patrol agents waving illegal immigrants through holes in the border fence, directing them to massive processing areas. Cutting razor wire put there by Texas state troopers and National Guard. Basically being as helpful as possible to the massive flood of immigrants coming across the border every day, day in and day out. This seems to fly in the face of their stated mission statement. From the Border Patrol web site: “…its primary mission remains unchanged: to detect and prevent the illegal entry of individuals into the United States“.

The behavior of the Border Patrol that I see with my own eyes clearly contradicts the mission statement. So what gives?

Now I get it, the Border Patrol doesn’t set policy. The agents are acting on the orders passed down from their superiors, which was passed down from the Secretary of Homeland Security, who gets his orders from the White House. So those poor schmucks on the front line are left simply enforcing whatever edict they were given. It’s not their fault. Or is it?

Because I’m a dork, I went and found the Border Patrol’s ’22-’26 Strategy document. My first thought is that it’s the most useless corporate propaganda I’ve read in a while. A waste of (virtual) trees. My second observation is that in the entire 26 page document (with dramatic pictures!), there is one, ONE, sentence related to the 10,000+ immigrants streaming across the border a day. (2021 migrant encounters hit a record at the time, so yes it was an issue when the doc was put together)

So the current administration, the decision makers, and senior management intentionally decide to ignore the actual purpose and mission of the Border Patrol. Here’s the thing though… every single one of those agents swore an oath to US constitution. Who’s standing up and saying, wait a minute this isn’t right? There wasn’t a single agent who previewed this document and pushed back on the total lack of focus on the actual crisis right in front of them? Obviously a bunch of sycophant agents all clapping like seals to please the chief.

I get it. You have a mortgage. A family. A baby on the way. A new truck payment. You’ve got your eye on that new boat. While you may not entirely agree with management, those decisions are above your pay grade.

I’m just doing my job.

And that, my friends, is how we got officials filling in skate parks with sand and arresting solo surfers on the beach. It’s Covid man, I’m just following orders. It’s how we have FBI agents conducting SWAT raids on J6 grandmothers. It’s how we got Ruby Ridge. It’s how we have police officers standing by and letting protestors take over highways. It’s how the holocaust happened. People just doing their job.

I have lost all respect for the agents of the Border Patrol. While the border is literally collapsing in front of them and they’ve turned into nothing more than a concierge and transportation agency for the customs and immigration service… there isn’t a single agent who’s willing to stand up and say this isn’t right?

To effect change, it’s going to take a revolt from the Border Patrol rank and file. Masses of them speaking out to the press. Ignoring orders and helping Texas officers put in more razor wire. Going to Washington and speaking out against their management and the decisions being made.

Think that will ever happen?

The answer is no. You gotta go along to get along. Would you risk your career to say something? Almost nobody would. It’s human nature. The rare individual who does say something will be ostracized immediately and working for Walmart by the end of the year. So the status quo remains.

Food for thought when society begins to break down. When President Newsom decides to implement some draconian rule in the name of safety and security, don’t expect those first line responders to push back. Do you really think law enforcement will be the good guys standing up for the rights of citizens? When the police and FBI arrive at your door because you’ve been posting subversive messaging and disinformation… it’s not those officers fault.

They were just doing their job.

Tar, Feathers, And Telemarketers

The first call came in sixty seconds after I hit the submit button. I laughed to myself, “wow that was quick”. Thirty seconds later, another call. And then another. “Oh crap, that can’t be real” I thought. More calls came in. I couldn’t hit the block button fast enough. As the old Talking Heads lyric says, “…and you may ask yourself, well how did I get here?”

One fine morning I decided to investigate health insurance options. I was curious what the going rate would be if we were to go on the dreaded exchange – the ACA, Affordable Care Act, which is decidedly not affordable. One of the worst disasters for our health care system ever. But that’s a story for another day. So there I was, trusty internet browser at the ready. I entered in the name of my state and “health insurance exchange”. The very first entry looked like an official state exchange website, so I clicked on it.

Now, I’m usually pretty good at identifying scams, phishing, and other ne’er-do-well type of people on the interwebs trying to take advantage of unsuspecting senior citizens. I must have been off my game because nothing jumped out at me as a warning sign. An official looking form wanted a name, zip code, and phone number before it would show you the available plans in your area. Normally I’d enter bogus info in, but clearly I was asleep at the switch and entered my real phone number. As I said in the first paragraph, the moment I hit submit I started getting phone calls.

I didn’t get just a few phone calls – in less than 48 hours I’ve received over 80 telemarking calls.

The calls start exactly at 7am each morning. They continue, roughly one every 15 minutes or so all day long, ending at 5:30pm. They’re mostly from different numbers so it’s impossible to block them all.

I went back and looked at the web site I’d been on. Upon closer examination it’s an insurance broker. I searched all around the site and found a contact page with an email address. I fired off a spicy worded email demanding I be removed from their list. The mail bounced back with the message “the recipient’s mailbox is unavailable”. Of course.

These people are scum. They are truly evil. What kind of soulless ghoul do you have to be to intentionally design a system that misleads people and then bombards them with phone calls every 15 minutes? From the marketing people, to the project managers, down to the software engineers who coded it – fucking evil people. How do you go home and sleep after working on a system like that? Do they really look in the mirror and think they’re doing something that adds value to society? The answer is no they don’t, and they don’t care. It’s a paycheck. Not their problem that it might impact people negatively.

In a just world we would track down every employee’s address and park loud sirens outside their homes and let them blare away all night long. And for the executives at that company? Tar and feathers. A highly underrated form of mob justice from the medieval days, that carried over to the American Revolution. A mostly non permanent way of identifying someone as an absolute piece of shit human who should be avoided at all costs and probably run out of town.

Although not ideal, we’d probably be better off as a society if we brought back some good ol’ fashioned frontier justice. Protesters who block freeways? A good ass whipping by an angry mob would cure that pretty quick. Environmental protesters who deface art? Tar and feathers. Lawyers and politicians? Well, I’ll let you use your imagination.

By society becoming “more” civilized, I’d argue we’ve become uncivilized. There’s little concept of manners and decent behavior anymore. People don’t care because there are no consequences for their behavior.

As I sit here fuming at the calls that continue to come in, I’ll leave you with a quote from the pulp fiction author, and creator of Conan the Barbarian, Robert E. Howard:

“Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.”

Are Dark Forces At Work?

My entire life I’ve been a good sleeper. As in I lay down, close my eyes, open them and it’s the next morning. I rarely remember dreams (if I do, they tend to be disturbing in some way). I’ve never worried about sleeping… it just works for me. Until recently. For some reason lately I’ve been waking up at 3-3:30 am every morning. It’s weird. It’s instantaneous. Suddenly my eyes are open and I’m wondering if maybe I heard something? I often have the feeling that I was in the middle of a dream, but I don’t remember what it was. At this point I’m wide awake. Going back to sleep is not an option.

I don’t understand why this is happening. I’m not stressed. It doesn’t matter what time I went to bed. It makes no difference how tired I am. It just keeps happening. While annoying, I haven’t really thought much about it. Then today, a writer I follow on Twitter/X posted this:

“There is definitely a strange energy in the air. “Dread” isn’t really my emotional struggle. Mostly it’s being flat or too intense. Been feeling those demonic emotions tho and others are noticing same, as well as 3 am waking up feeling weird. Zeitgeist change. Not a good one… Some really dark shifts occurring / stuff is at work. If you’re tuned into the fields, unmistakable sense of something being or about to be ‘off.'”

There was a flood of replies to that post all saying, “me too; started waking up at 3am a month ago; I never woke at 3am in my life, now have every day for weeks…”

I’m not a religious person, nor do I subscribe to the idea of the supernatural. But I will admit, this made me wonder. What if there is an alternate plane of energy or reality out there? Could there be forces of evil or good that exist in an alternate dimension that most of us aren’t tuned into?

All the ancient peoples, from the Norse up to the native Americans believed in good and bad forces that occasionally entered our world to attempt to influence us. All religions have some elements of this in their writings. In our recent “modern” era, it’s easy to dismiss the idea of the supernatural as rantings of hard core religious folks or primitive peoples who were uneducated and believed in witchcraft and magic to explain the world around them. But maybe those pre-modern era folks were simply more tuned in to their environment than we are?

It certainly would be easy to look around at the world today and feel that dark forces have become more powerful. The level of evil that permeates modern politics is disturbing. The lust for power, money, and war truly frightens me. The near daily videos on the internet showing unchecked looting, violence, and complete disregard for any sort of societal norms is depressing. I watch our young people, university indoctrinated in a vapid left leaning ideology, eager to demonstrate in the streets in support of murdering and kidnapping innocent civilians and wonder who’s influencing them? What sort of demon convinces someone to tear down a poster of a kidnapped child?

Again, I am not a religious person but I do wonder if our move away from more traditional Judeo-Christian family/societal values, and towards a more secular society, have invited in dark forces? The United States and Western Europe have lost their national identities. In the name of multiculturalism and globalism, the sense of community you once held is gone. It’s blasphemy to be a proud American, Swede, Englishman, etc…

By destroying the tribe, we’ve become collections of individuals. And individuals are easier to corrupt and influence as they have no allegiance to their neighbors. Lacking that common bond of familial and tribal norms that help regulate behaviors – the individual is easy prey for external and dark influences. Has traditional society collapsed enough that demons are crossing over to find easy prey and further spread dark energy?

I’m starting to think our large tech overlords may be the dark force that corrupts us all. Tech and AI is influencing everything we read, it suppresses truth, and strives to keep us enslaved to our devices. I was traveling the last few days and got a data usage warning on my phone since I wasn’t connected to wifi. I investigated and discovered I’d consumed an ungodly amount of data on Instagram. Why? I’ve gotten hooked on those stupid 30 second reels. Car crashes, funny animal videos, etc… the system is designed to keep you mindlessly scrolling for hours. I thought about it and realized I’ve been sucked into it. Every 15 or 30 minutes or so, all day long, I catch myself scrolling for a quick five minutes (or so I tell myself).

If I was a demon and wanted to drive a wedge between human interaction and create sloth, greed, and envy… what a perfect way to do it. The tech influencers are creating a dopamine dependency that makes going out and experiencing the real world seem exhausting and not worth the effort. Now that they have your zombie-like attention span, what other messaging can they begin to push?

Then again, maybe there is no demonic force that’s preying upon people. Perhaps it is just human nature in an environment of excess and no natural predators. When your day is no longer filled with physical work and you have the availability of instant information – and no need to put the effort in to study to understand the world around you, it may be that the dark forces are simply the byproduct of weak and lazy minds. Fat, bored, and fueled by easy dopamine hits, we exist in a globalist world that celebrates a lack of identity. It does seem like the perfect recipe for succumbing to the worst of human behavior. The traditional guardrails of society seem to be disappearing.

I’m not sure what to think. What I do know is that something seems “off” in the world right now. Drifting around the edges, there’s a sense that something doesn’t seem right. This worries me and I don’t know what to do about it.

All I can do is hope that when I do run into the Wendigo in the forest… I recognize it for what it is.
